Williamson County A mature Radio Emergency Services will be participating in the 2020 Winter Field Day. This is a time for Amateur Radio Operators who believe that emergency communications in a winter environment is just as important as the preparations and practice that is done each summer but with some additional unique operational concerns.
This year Winter Field Day will be January 25-26,2020. Winter Field Day runs for 24 hours beginning at 1900 UTC (1300 CST) on Saturday to 1900 UTC (1300 CST) on Sunday. Station set up time can begin at 1900 UTC (1300 CST) on Friday.
WC-ARES will be setting up its operations at the Jim Hogg Park located at Lake Georgetown. The communication trailer and those wishing to camp over the weekend will begin arriving at the camp ground on January 24th. WC-ARES has reserved a few camping slots for those interested in camping. IF you have not already done so and would like to camp you can either complete the “I want to Camp form” or contact Terry Jones, WC-ARES has any of its camping slots still available. If not you can make your reservation with Jim Hogg Park at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232612/availability. WC-ARES has reserved campsites 37-41 if you want to make a reservation near the others in the group.
We are planning on having fun with the contest and at the same time testing out 60 meters and various antenna for future deployment use. Come join the fun… whether it is DX’ing on the radio, fishing, setting around visiting or getting help with radio setup or testing an antenna we will have a great time. If you have a project or specific need you would like assistance with or have questions regarding please make sure to let us know so we can try to have someone around to assist or answer your questions.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
