Every Sunday Evening at 2000 the Williamson County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (WC-ARES) organization conducts a directed net. The purpose of the NET is to introduce order into communications among many stations. The benefit of ordered communications is the efficient use of bandwidth (i.e. time on channel) and is used to prepare us to communicate effectively during times of emergency. Once a year WC-ARES conducts “net control” classes so that all its members have the opportunity to learn how to conduct directed nets.
